Two Snow Events and Extremely Cold Weather

1. We have two possible snow events this week followed by extremely cold weather coming in behind the storms.
2. As for the cold, it's going to be the coldest yet this year starting next weekend for much of the country from the Rockies into the Northeast. The South may get spared the extreme cold while the Midwest may have highs in the single digits by Sunday.
3. Storm one comes through around the 7th. This will probably be a light snow event coming through the Ohio Valley and Northeast. I expect accumulations in the 1- to 3-inch range.
4. The second event may be the bigger of the two. This event looks like 2-4 inches coming through the Ohio Valley into the Northeast with the potential for a blizzard across New England as the storm hits the coast and bombs. I don't think NYC is out of the woods for a big storm just yet. If the trough digs in just a little more, the storm will end up winding up fairly close to where the last storm hit. Just so we are clear, the storm next weekend will NOT be on the magnitude of the blizzard that hit the 26th.
